IDM (Communication Modem MD-1295/A)

Improved Data Modem

P/N: 81995-DM001-302
NSN: 5895-01-426-5318

The IDM (Improved Data Modem) is flight-proven, off-the-shelf system that provides an open architecture, multi-path approach to situational awareness in the cockpit. The world’s military organizations gain additional utility and service life from their existing installed radio equipment by installing the IDM. Interconnecting with up to four separate radios (HF, UHF, VHF or SATCOM), the IDM facilitates the creation of a digital transmission network for the sharing of sensor and tactical data among all coalition forces without regard to nationality, language or platform.

The MD-1295/A is currently in operational service or has been completed integration demonstrations on such international and domestic platforms as the F-16, the Longbow AH-64D and WAH-64D, the OH-58D, EA-6B, O/A-10, J-STARS, A2C2S, UH-60Q, E-2C, the UK Jaguar, and several UAV platforms. On each of these platforms the IDM supports missions such as Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD), Close Air Support (CAS), Forward Air Control (FAC), Air Combat, Joint Air Attack Team (JAAT), Fire Support (FS), Intraflight Data Link (IDL), Situational Awareness Data Link (SADL), and Command and Control (C2).
