Symetrics lands orders for additional IDM-304s to U.S. Army
Melbourne, Florida - 08 Sep 2008Symetrics Industries, LLC announced today they have received two additional orders from the US Army for their Improved Data Modems (IDM) for installation on numerous Army aircraft. In August of last year, Symetrics was awarded the initial contract for IDM-304s, valued at over $7 million. Just recently, the Army placed two additional orders to the company, worth approximately $4.5M. Symetrics is now on contract to deliver nearly 500 IDM-304s, and began making deliveries in June, in accordance with the government’s schedule. Symetrics also continues as the US government’s depot repair facility for IDM-304s returned from the field.

Their award to us of two additional orders of IDM-304s on this multi-year program, is a testimony to the hard work and commitment of our employees, and the US Army’s commitment to provide improved situational awareness through digital communications.”
Symetrics has been manufacturing several versions of the IDM since 1993, including many of their own design. Symetrics has also developed a Mini-IDM, the smallest yet in the family, which is being deployed on the USAF A-10 and B-52 digital avionics upgrade programs. In 2007, Symetrics went a step further with the Mini-IDM, and integrated a UHF channel into the unit, alleviating the need for a third-party radio. This system, known as the Mini Weapons Data Link, allows munitions such as bombs and missiles to be steered in flight by the weapons controllers on the ground, ensuring greater accuracy and decreased collateral damage.
Symetrics will continue to deliver their family of IDMs to the DoD, and looks forward to producing technologically-advanced IDMs to the US government as future requirements dictate.
